Time is Money

The art of doing less for more.

I’ve always been a proponent of “Work smarter, not harder”.

On thing I’ve found in my quest for 0 hour work weeks, is that in general, hard work in inevitable and unavoidable. That’s definitely not a bad thing, though. The work has to come from somewhere, either up front, or during the work. As people, we like to point at the most successful among us and talk about how easy their lives must be. “They don’t do anything”, or “All they do is sit around and collect money”. We rarely take into account the work that they did to get there or the hard work they do to maintain their wealth, status, and power.

The fact is, that “passive income” is a lie. 100%. Unless you’ve won the lottery, gotten that inheritance from that uncle you never knew, or some other once in 100 lifetimes situation, you’re stuck with the hard work part. The good news is, there is still a way to work smarter, and keep time for the things you love most (Hobbies, Family, Friends, Etc).

One of the best ways to do this doing your work up front. Setting up the automatons, building all of the content templates, and putting in place all of the systems to run smoothly with minimum hands on. This is what a lot of people usually see when they refer to “Passive Income”, but what they don’t see was the thousands of hours of trial and error that takes months and sometimes even years of experience to perfect these systems. Not so passive anymore, huh?

Another way to do this is to be smart about how you spend your time day to day. Think about it this way: If you were working in an office, how much work are you actually doing? How much time is wasted? Scrolling socials? Small talk with co-workers? You’ll find with “Hard work blocks”, you can lock in and get A LOT done in less time. I split my week up into 5 work blocks to work on all of my projects:

Monday: Marketing Block - Content ideation, creation, and distribution; Social Media Engagement.

Tuesday: Admin/Ops - Business Analysis, Systems Upkeep, Process Improvement, Payments/Accounting

Wednesday: Meetings - Sales Calls, Team Calls, Follow-Up Calls, etc.

Thursday: Sales - Lukewarm Outreach, Warm Outreach, Lead Nurturing

Friday: Product - Product Ideation, Product Design, Product Building, Product Improvement

This way, I can work 2-4 hours on my projects a day and push them a little further forward each week. The best part is, this isn’t a one size fits all, or even the only productivity strategy that works. Success has infinite pathways that almost always start with consistency and execution. How you attain your goals is completely up to you.

So take the time to do some hard work. It’s the only thing between you and your dreams.

Your friend,

James
