And, we're back!
Winners try one more time.
Winners are just losers who tried one more time.
No truer words. It’s really easy to get bogged down in your failures and overthink how you can overcome the shortcomings that got you there. Life and business is hard, but not usually in the ways you would actually think.
People think about failure, almost like it’s sports. If you look at an NFL team that is 0-15, you would probably agree, that’s not a very good team; but, life is not actually like that. It doesn’t matter if you’ve lost 100 times, 1,000 times, or 1,000,000,000 times in life. All it takes to completely change your life is one time. So, a person who is 0-15, but wins on the 16th try, is doing pretty damn good.
The one thing that sports and life do share though: Failure is an inevitable part of winning. Nobody is great on the first try.
Sometimes, it can be hard to keep this in perspective. We as people have a hard time thinking outside of our own pain and often don’t give ourselves realistic grace, but in almost every instance, your situation is almost certainly not the worst.
Life and business are hard, but they are mostly hard because we give up before we can gain any traction. Nothing that’s worth having comes easy, but once you identify the replicable tasks that you have to consistently accomplish, the actually work that goes into your goals is mostly about just getting it done.
So, keep things in perspective and keep moving. You have a lot less ground to cover than you might think.
